Overview

California’s Low-Income Weatherization Program installs rooftop solar systems, solar hot water heating systems and energy efficiency measures for low-income households to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save energy.

Launched in early 2016, the Low-Income Weatherization Program for Mutifamily Properties (LIWP-Multifamily) is already proving to have significant impact. Properties participating in LIWP Multifamily have reduced energy usage by an average of 40%.

Program Benefits

LIWP-Multifamily is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public heal and the environment. At least 35% of California Climate Investments are made in disadvantaged and low-income communities.
