MCE Green Workforce Pathways

Overview

MCE’s Green Workforce Pathways aims to lower the barriers to high-performance building construction by supporting and reinforcing the pipeline of skilled workers in the field. This goal is achieved through a combination of electrification workshops, construction field meetings with contractors, and a paid trainee program that pairs qualified workers with a high-performance contractor. Additionally, participants can receive comprehensive Building Science training to further their expertise.

Program Benefits

The program provides free ongoing training opportunities to contractors and their staff through electrification workshops. It also delivers on-site support for contractors installing high-performance building components, like heat pumps for space conditioning, heat pump water heaters, air sealing, and more. The Green Workforce Pathways program supplies funding for fully paid trades internships, providing participants on-the-job training focused on high-performance buildings along with their specific trade. This grows the contractor base and brings high-performance building practices to the forefront of a new professional’s career.
