Call for Artists: 2026 Environmental Justice Festival

The Bronx and Brooklyn Energy Hub is now accepting submissions from visual artists, performers, and designers for our Environmental Justice Arts Festival. We welcome emerging and established artists working in all mediums.
Theme: “Environmental Justice for Bronx” Everyone should have access to a clean and healthy environment! Your artwork can focus on highlighting the environmental inequities of the past and/or the best way to correct these inequities moving forward. We included a few statistics below about the environmental vulnerabilities that exist in the Bronx. The Bronx is home to a disproportionate number of city waste transfer, wastewater treatment, and power generation facilities. The South Bronx is a major truck hub, leading to a high concentration of air pollution from diesel fuel. The asthma rates in the South Bronx are higher than the national average. The Bronx’s environmental problems are rooted in systematic racism and discriminatory planning.

The Bronx and Brooklyn Energy Hub A team of knowledgeable local Non-Profit organizations funded by the NYS Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), experienced in clean energy, energy efficiency, workforce, education, health, and housing. The purpose of the Hub is to create an inclusive energy economy through outreach, education, and engagement at the local level, so New Yorkers, especially those who have been historically disadvantaged, can benefit from awareness and access to energy programs and initiatives.

Eligibility:
- Born and raised and/or currently reside in the borough of the Bronx
- Ability to incorporate theme to your art form
- Exhibition/Performance space
- Stipend for selected artist (amount varies by project scope)
- Promotion through festival channels
- Post event exposure through digital gallery
Submission Requirements:
- Artist bio and contact information
- Project proposal (max 500 words)
- Up to 5 images or video links of past work
- Technical requirements and installation needs
- Optional: social media or website links
Artist Specs
- Spoken Word- no more than 5 minutes
- Physical art pieces should be easy to move on and off stage
