Since 1976, Weatherization has been serving low-income households, with a priority on the elderly, disabled, and households with children. Weatherization provides an energy audit and installs cost-effective energy-efficiency measures that make homes safer, healthier, and more comfortable to live in while saving money and energy. By helping to make energy affordable for residents and building owners alike, WAP reduces the rent burden of occupants and the upward pressure on rents resulting from high operating costs, helping families afford to stay in their homes.

Typical Weatherization projects may install heating and hot water system upgrades, building envelope measures such as air sealing, energy efficient lighting, window repairs or replacement, efficient appliances and ventilation system improvements. If a sufficient proportion of residents is income-eligible, the whole building is eligible for upgrades. Multifamily building owners contribute to the costs of the upgrades.
